Brass and reloading

 When I was living in Oregon my Uncle use to sell our brass to a reloader down their after every hunting season.  I think he use to just trade it for some reloads.

Anyway I guess it is just habbit now that I have been saving my brass since.  I've got about 5 or a little more boxes of 30-06 and 7mm Brass in my hunting stuff.  The thing I am wondering is does it matter if the brass comes from Remington, Hornaday, Federal, etc?  Do I have to keep it seperate or can I just throw it in a bag?  As of now I have been keeping it seperate and most of it in the boxes.

Are you talking about selling it off to someone else who buys used brass in bulk? I don't think it will matter if that is the case. At our shooting range we just lump it all together and take it down and get some cash.

For reloading... I separate my brass even if it is the same caliber. I like to keep each batch together IF I can but that's not always possible. I like to keep track of how many loads they have gone through. Doing so... I can also be aware when a whole batch seems bad. I just got rid of a bad batch Remington .223 brass.

The 30-06 Brass has been shot once.  Fairly confident that the 7mm Brass has been shot once as well. 

Just wondering if it's really worth saving.  I've got some loose 30-06 Brass that has also only been shot once.  It's Hornaday and Federal I know that.  I keep it seperate in zip locks.

Figure a trade with someone....I am always looking for more .300RUM brass....I have some 7mm Mag to trade....  I also think someone mentioned doing a trade at the meet? Maybe my memory is failing me....

It depends on the person.

Once you've shot a match, and you get a bit "crazy, anal, whatever...." about your brass, and brass prep, I guess you becomed ruined about how you treat your brass, and can't lump it all together anymore.

Its not just separated by BRAND, its LOT that is iportant.
On Factory Loaded ammo, Lot numbers are on back of the box. If you purchase ammo in larger sums, you can look at the back of the box, and match Lot numbers, that way you will be ensured that your ammo will place the same on target.

This may be a bit that folks didn't know, may even confuse a few, but for those that shoot precision rifle, they already knew it, or maybe it will help some in a small way.

Yep, we are ANAL about our brass....we LOVE our brass.....we uniform primer pockets, flash holes, necks, size accordingly, polish......we find brass on the ground at the range and we MUST pick it up....SACRILEDGE! can't leave it laying there....all alone.....
