early season calls
« on: September 07, 2011, 02:35:19 PM »
anyone ever use calls for the early season. I know theres deer on the property im hunting they just never seem to come by till after dark. I heard that using a fawn bleat or even doe would work. And also wondering why you cant use electronic calls for deer but elk you can?

Because that's what it says in the hunting reg's. And believe me, that is probably the best and only answer you will ever get to that question.

In the past week, I have had blacktail beat down the forrest to get to my fawn in distress call.  Problem was, they always stop just short of getting into a clearing for a shot.  They stay just inside the brush stomping and snorting but not exposing themselves.  I gave up on using it.

But!!! It sounds with some help (another caller 50-100yards back) it would be very a successfull method of hunting.

Might be.  I was on one side of a clearing across the road, well hidden in a bush.  They were across the road on the other side.  I was trying to get them into the road.  No go  :'(
