Yeah we went up Aasgard. Took 2 hours from boulder field at end of Colchuck Lake. Not as bad as it looks, we went slow and took breaks so everyone would summit at the same time.

Its on my bucket list.   Did you have a permit, or chance it(leftovers/random draw or whatever they do) at the trailhead. 

Does anyone know when the permit season ends and it opens up to anyone?

Yea I put in for the permit this year(in Feb) and what a hassle and a very hard draw. The Enchantments are broken up into zones. Not only did I not get drawn but you don't get any money back, and the outside vendor is raking in bucks. Bone if I were you I would either do a hike thru or go in on the Colchuck side up Asguard amd maybe down as far as Leuprechaun(sp) as this is where the best pictures are taken then come back the same way you went in. As below there to Snow lakes and down it is nothing special. What I would do is slip your sleeping bag in a day pack go up and since you don't mind camping in a secluded area find a little brush patch and hunker down in it so you can catch the early moring pictures.

Doesn't it open to anyone OCT 15th? My friend drew her core permit through the permit process. She has been putting in for years and she began to cry at work when she saw that she finally drew. I figured it was her ''Colockum bull permit'' of a lifetime as she is a true hiker. She spent 5 days up there taking it all in.

Skyvalhunter has some great points. We had an interior permit and it took about 5 years for us to get it. I'm planning a trip back there for a day to try and catch the Larch trees once they turn colors. From the Colchuck trail head access can be made to the upper basins by the 4 hour mark pretty easy. With my wife and friends we were just over that loaded with 50 lb packs.

Bone, I would skip the lower basins ie. Snow lake is not as pretty as the uppers in my opinion. Most of the goats are from aasgard to prussick (sp) pass/peak.

This year was the first time I ever put in and I was drawn.. I have the core permit.. I am really excited.. I start on friday..
