Idaho bulls down
« on: September 22, 2011, 04:59:59 PM »
Huntnnw and i were able to connect on a couple spike bulls in idaho last weekend. here is a pic of mine.
walked up a logging road 2 miles behind a locked gate and called this one and another dpike in to 30 yards. went 40 after shot and it was over. not the biggest elk but for me it is quantity over quality on elk.. :chuckle:
dif i get the go ahead from huntnnw i will post his. maybe he will too. it is a twin to mine.
thanks for looking

Congrats, some good eats right there. If you don't mind could you send a couple of them this way next month?

Just got done grinding burger today... the roast I had was great.

Yeah its extremely thick where we were hunting...just getting a 15-20 yd shot free of limbs was impossible! I had a window I thought with mine at 28 yards..I hit a limb and deflected arrow into femoral..didnt go far.. 40 yards. I had a sow and 3 cubs walk up to me after shot and things got interesting for a few minutes... momma standing up, grunting and chattering teeth at me...she was close to getting a arrow in her

It was very fun hunt. Seemed like every time we blew a cow call the elk were coming right to us. I was amazed how we were calling in elk for those few days.
