Long Lake (Lake Spokane) Fishing reports
« on: September 24, 2011, 08:12:32 AM »
Ok so here it is the end of September and hopefully the last Hot day of the year which means it's now Fall fishing season!!! So what I'm going to try and do is report back here with our results of fall fishing on my "home base lake" which is Long Lake (Lake Spokane) here in Nine Mile Falls.

Early season on the lake was very productive for Smallies with an average of 6 to 8 fish caught on our evening outing's. Weights of the fish ran from 2 to 5 pounds with most being caught on regular white bass spinner baits with a single Colorado blade or Willow blade. Water temps then were in the mid to high 60's and the fish were caught up tight to the beach walls and docks. Water temps rose in mid summer and the weeds came up really thick this year which pushed the fish out to deeper cooler water thus the end of fishing due to the high boat traffic on the lake in the areas were the fish went. Not to mention it's tough to fish in the summer heat!!

So the plan is to hit the lake Sunday with a front coming in that may bring some rain later in the day. This should be promising.

Here's some pic's from earlier this summer.

I'll be back with a report from our next outing.

Well last Sunday was rough as many know in this area. The winds were howling with gusts up to 40 MPH and the air was thick with dust and pine needles. So we opted to leave the boat in the driveway and instead headed to just below the Nine Mile Falls Dam for some shore fishing. Well the wind wasn't being nice and the water was very rough on top and fast. The fish were there though. We watched for hours as the wind would take a brake the smallies would be popping up and out hitting food. It was tough because we didn't plan for top water fishing and they didn't want anything to do with spinners or drifting worms. Not to mention we just could slow down our presentation nor could we get out far enough in the river do to the high wind. The water is low and the fish are in there it's just a matter of timing.

We'll get em' next time, stay tuned for more reports as we get into the fall fishing season.
