Pullman Area Thanksgiving Hunt - GMU 145 163178 181
« on: September 26, 2011, 11:50:24 AM »
So, I've to go to some relatives for Thanksgiving in Pullman.  Never been down in the area, not sure what the public land situation is.
Can anyone give me some idea of what the access is like?  Is it a lot of private?
I have a multi deer tag, so I can do archery or muzzy or archery elk in 178 too.

Check wdfw go hunt for feel free to hunt land. Lots of private land there, have your relatives put in a good word with the locals.  The elk hunt is much of one, lots of farm land and the elk aren't thick there unless it's very snowy in the blues.  Need permission to hunt  alot of it as well.

Yea, that's what I thought.  I'll grab up some maps and check it out.  Just thought I'd see if anyone had some insight.

the closest gmu's to pullman are 139 and 142. Around thanksgiving so you must be doing muzzleloader in which case only steptoe would be open.99% private but permission should be easy to come by if you get out there and talk to some people. ALso be ready for winter was out opening day last year and it was -5 and driftin snow like crazy.

Yea, i have multi deer, so muzzy it will be.
I'll have to get out and knock on some doors.  Won't be able to get away on thanskgiving day, but I'll be there all for the four day weekend.
If anybody needs a huntin buddy, let me know. :chuckle:  I'll keep researching it and see if i can figure something out.

Stay away from 178 to far of a drive for the amount of huntable land  :twocents:

Make sure when you go knockin and talkin you mention that with your muzzy tag you can take a doe that will just about get your foot in the door anywhere,. If it were any other year I would say I would probably be out there with ya but takin pops out for modern this year. Also just a couple points of direction, green hollow rd and alse glenwood off of hihway 272 I would drive in there and make some friends.

In addition to the places Buckman mentioned drive out Draper-Brown Rd a few miles east of Glennwood Rd. There's some good hunting out there.

Don't count on it. How many times do you think the growers around here have seen Coug hats?

So maybe i'll get their attention if i wear a Griz or Husky hat. :chuckle:
I think I'll stick with my people skills and hope for the best.
Might not even need it if i can bag my deer this weekend or during modern.  Just want to have a back up plan.
