THen there is the 60 incher. A guy told me about him, and I am LEARY on most peoples judgements on moose. HE'S BIG
I gave a big grandious call scheme and waited for a long time when I finally heard "him". He was about 1.5 miles south of me headed my way. I wasn't in the best spot to photo him.......about an hour went by and he closed to within 500 yards, then hung up. About this time another bull behind me went nuts. This forced the big guy to close within 200 yards. At that point his demolition tactics began. He tore the living hell out of things. Sometimes this can be misleading with moose, but I could hear the sound of his palms on the brush, and that is NOT misleading. I answered back with my pitily little demonstation. The little bull behind me, said "screw this" and shut up. The big guy talked for a few then went silent on me. I could hear him sneaking. He got within 40 yards. I could see pieces but I needed one more step. Literally one more step. We stared at each other for about 10 minutes. He's disappear then come back. I needed one step. Then it was too dark for pics. I waited a bit just to see him. I finally issued a big challenge to his face, but he could obviously see me. He just stood there. I left.
