ML Season to Start!
« on: September 28, 2011, 09:50:03 PM »
Who else is figgin excited for the smoke pole season to start??  I can hardly sleep at night.  I have been planning, strategizing and dreaming of this Saturday ever since the end of last season.  I'm heading out to scout tomorrow.  In my dreams the weyco and sierra lands are open to hunting but the gates are closed.  We'll see if it plays out like I dreamt.  Good luck to you all

Yeah...deer hunting was just another chance to scout for elk for me.   I'm dying to get out of work here today so I can go set up camp tomorrow.  I'll be there the whole season.  I need a bigger trailer.  I think my buddy and I packed enough stuff and food for the year.  I might actually gain weight at elk camp even though I'll walk a marathon a day.  Anyway, hopefully we have some good pics to post up...the archery guys set the bar high with the stories and pics.... Good luck guys.

Been scouting with the cameras all summer.  I know exactly where the elk are to fill my cow tag! :chuckle:  if the archery hunters didnt push them out.  If they did they have had enough of a break to come back.  I cant wait!

Cant wait! All set to go. Just waiting for the moment I get one in my sights then lose it behind a cloud of smoke for a couple of seconds just to see it laying on the ground waiting to be tagged. :P

Sounds like we have some weather coming in the first part of the week.  make sure your tents are tied down good and the tarps are up.  Possible snow above 4000 ft :yike:

We'll be up on Bald Mt!

At work till 8:30pm tonight and then its pack time. Wish we could have gotten to camp today, but instead it will be a 2.30am leave the house and hunting by 6am.  Hopefully we can drop a couple bulls so we dont have to set up camp in the afternoon. Good luck to all!

Wish I was with the boys at camp right now. I had to many things I had to take care of before I can go. I biggest was making sure the wife's car troubles where taken care of. Now that that chore is done I'm hoping I'll be able to head out soon. Perhaps she will let me slide on the rest of my chores until I return  :dunno: Good luck to everyone out in the woods right now. Can't wait to hear the stories and see the pictures.
It's not the size of the trophy that make's it a trophy.

Happy hunting everyone! Perhaps I'll run into some of you later this week... I have to work through the weekend and until Wednesday.  :'(

Eyeguard tagged out this morning with a great Roosevelt 5x5 though.
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.
