Newsrelease:Pro-wolf vanpool headed to Oct 6 meeting
« on: September 29, 2011, 03:51:32 PM »
After a collaborative five-year process to develop a science-based wolf plan for Washington State, the future of these animals is still uncertain. The return of the wolf is vital to the health and restoration of ecosystems throughout the state, especially in our national parks, including Olympic National Park.

In early December, the state Fish and Wildlife Commission is slated to approve or reject Washington's Wolf Conservation and Management Plan, but some have abandoned the stakeholder process and called for a dismemberment of the plan. Without an outpouring of pro-wolf voices, Washington's wolf plan could be sent back to the drawing board, or eliminated altogether. We need your help! On Thursday, October 6th, in Olympia, join us to speak up for wolf recovery at a public meeting.

You won't be howling alone! The National Parks Conservation Association and Conservation Northwest will help you with your comments and provide a vanpool from Seattle.

Meeting Details

WHAT: Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting on Washington's Wolf Conservation and Management Plan

WHEN: Thursday, October 6, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The public testimony period will begin around 1 p.m. Please sign in to testify as early as possible. (Please see below for vanpool information.)

WHERE: Washington State Capitol, Natural Resources Building, 1111 Washington St SE, Olympia, WA, 98501.

RSVP: Please RSVP to David Graves at dgraves@npca.org or 206.903.1444 x205 to speak on behalf of wolves, or to reserve a spot in one of the vanpools.

VANPOOL INFO: Vans will leave at 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. (The 12 p.m. vanpool is for those who can only make the public testimony component in the afternoon.) Meet at the Ravenna Park and Ride, NE 65th Street and Eighth Avenue NE in Seattle. Vans are available to return immediately following the meeting, or to stay in Olympia later for a Conservation Northwest-sponsored happy hour from 5 - 7 p.m. at The Spar.

Please join us to speak out for Washington's progressive wolf management plan!

Wouldn't it be awful if everybody who read this thread and could make it called up our buddy David and reserved all the spots in the vanpool and spoke at the hearings?  :chuckle:
I would love to see a few of us make happy hour, at least...

WFW will be there also. We have a prepared Letter to read also. We have been making ourselves heard. If you attend the meeting on the 6th, look me up...I'll be the old ex-marine lookin dude... :chuckle:
Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.
