have gun, will travel
« on: October 09, 2011, 12:23:50 PM »
Hello all,
I'm new to the state, well since last year (i had to wait to gain residence) and have been doing some research/ scouting on modern firearm hunts for the fall.  For the first time ever I will be able to devote some serious time to hunting and thus I am very motivated.  This is truly the gem of public lands.

I just finished a commercial fishing season in Alaska and I am excited to get out on the terra firma.  Coming from an area where public or open wilderness is limited, here there are so many opportunities it has been hard to categorize.  My situation is this: I am looking for any promising deer or elk area to deveote my efforts to, staying out for periods of time if need be.

I am looking for both, A. find someone with equal experience to consult and scout out areas, equally new to both of us, or B. Some one who is willing to take a new guy under their wing in exchange for another set of eyes (well and their duty to inclusively promote their values and sport to newbies!   :).

I am 25, sharp, liberal in a traditional sense, and respect those that know more than me.  Muscle, Conversation, company, I am game for all three.  As far as political and religious afflilations go, I am wary of any absolutes.  Safety wise, I am practical and an Eagle Scout, have a bow License and have hunted in Maine and Rhode Island.  I've got some Alaskan Salmon coming down later in the month, this could be a nice goodwill trade if you're open to tastey bribes.

one further note, I live in Seattle,
If anyone want to grab coffee and pour over GMU pdfs/ google eatth, let me know.
 have gun, and will travel
Thanks for your time,
Jared Luther

How far are you willing to travel?  There are areas west of Seattle, but eventhough only 20 miles away could take a few hours to get to.

Hi,
I too am a mariner, looking for a partner. My partner got severely hurt in a fishing accident and I can't count on others as they work land jobs. I am going elk hunting modern down by St.Helen's for the 10 days. It is very hard to find someone who has as much time off as mariners. Older 57 and in fair shape.
