Maybe if one of these people had a gun, their friends would still be alive today. Just a sensible thought. Dialing 9-1-1 is just a government sponsored dial-a-prayer.  :sry:

I was very disturbed by this news story and the coverage.  Yes we have a violent crime problem that does involve guns many times.  I worked in a prison for 5 years.  I was absoultely disgusted by the number of repeat violent offenders.  Money seems to be the problem of keeping criminials behind bars and plea bargaining with poor sentencing of these people.  I agree the arguement of gun control is about as ridiculous as limiting the number of cars and times of day you can drive in hopes to reduce drunk driving fatalities.  No stiffly prosecute those offenders and put limits on their rights to protect citizens.  I work in the medical field and know the results of voilent gun crime.  Stop the criminials and stop the crime.

From http://www.doh.wa.gov/hsqa/emstrauma/injury/pubs/icpg/DOH530090Firear.pdf

Firearm injuries in 2006 were the fourth leading cause of injury death in Washington State. There were 392 firearm-completed suicides. This is about one-half (49%) of the suicides in Washington State. There were 121 homicides committed with firearms, or 55% of all homicides. Also in 2006, there were nine unintentional firearm deaths:
• Three among 10- to 19-year olds.
• Three among 20- to 34-year olds.
• One among 45- to 54-year olds.
• Two among those 75 years old and older.

This gives us 522 gun deaths in 2006.  It is plausible that there were 6000 in 10 years.  This implies that 75% of these deaths are suicides.  It also doesn't identify how many of the homicides were gang on gang violence.  Washington Ceasefire doesn't want people to know that.  They prefer to let people think that there were 6000 murders of innocent people.  The reporter doesn't care about the truth.

Sadly, news reporters will never dig into the numbers to inform the people.  The job of news reporters is to find a sensational headline (often through a press release) and then ask a few people "how does it feel?"  News reporting is dead.
We need a crusade for the children, a children's crusade.

Iguess someone should tell all the criminals who are not affected by these gun laws to turn in their guns.  I would be interested in seeing how many murders were commited by legal gun owners as opposed to unregistered firearms...

:yeah: and on the numbers, I would bet that allot of those are done by criminals with prior records who illegally obtained a firearm, for the suicides if some wants to off themselves who am I to stop them? I have been in third world country's where they do not have many firearms, and guess what? Those with them run the area, those that want to kill someone still do it, just by other means. Ask a CSI or forensics's which is easier to trace down a firearm murder which leaves a specific trace to the weapon that caused it, or a generic knife wound that could be one of the 10000 of those knifes produced?

Ceasefire should work on Eric Holders Fast and Furious gubmint dealings. The gubmint is the biggest killers with the use of illegally used guns against innocent people.

Had a LEO friend tell me several years ago folks who dial 911 are asking other people to do what they don't want to. When the law gets there it is over and the problem is gone. Not sure that will be the case around here.  :twocents:
