Winston Creek Gates
« on: October 12, 2011, 02:01:02 PM »
First off I just want to say I am NOT a road hunter. My dad is a disabled veteren and can't walk or ride a bike long distances. My brother and I go hunting with him every year. I'm trying to find out if anyone knows if the gates at Winston Creek will be open for drive in on the weekends again this year like last year. If anyone knows will you please let me know. I know the main gate (portblakey tree farm) will probably be locked but what about the upper gate?? I think it is the 500 or 550 gate?

Thanks guys and gals!!

I was just down there last week during muzzle loader season. Correct port blakely was closed and locked and is walk/bike in only. The 3000 road just past longbell on salmon creek road is open for access to the 500 and 550. Kid valley was also open.

Don't you have late cow tags?  You'll have no problem getting in their during modern seasons on weekends, up past the 500 has been a walk in area for years, opened it last year on weekends only.  Don't need all that though, you'll have no problem finding a place to drive your old man and there is literally elk everywhere in the winston, especially a cow.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.
