Tail sniffen?
« on: October 18, 2011, 07:17:51 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has seen any signs of the rut kicken in here on the west side? I would think that it's just getting under way.

I've seen a couple spikes chasing does around. Also seen a couple bigger bucks with their necks all swollen up

Yes, for sure, got a 4-point blacktail at work been all around a doe. She goes this way, he is running after her. Back and forth for two mornings. He finally tires and lays down under a tree. I got some pictures of him from less than 50'. I need to load them on to my computer and post them on here. He was also tearing up a little tree.

Anyone been seeing any evidence of the rut late this week on the wet side? If so what general area or elevation? (if you feel free sharing that info) It would be interesting if we could keep track of BT rut info throughout the wetside on this thread.

I'm going out again to scout on Sunday. Will post any info found.

I saw a 2x3 blacktail buck chasing two does yesterday in my neighborhood. He was running them ragged. His neck isn't very swollen yet.

BVBH, you seeing this in the Skook?

This week last year in 454 I saw a couple of small bucks running around dumb. I'm heading up to around 4,500 ft on Sunday and expect to see some good activity if I can find the pockets.

You get an archery tag this year or are you hunting archery during modern?

Nothing in my area yet. Watched a smaller buck last night that was nowhere near rutted up. Its raining good here, finally.
