I'm going to ask for alittle help, maybe someone can share some info. I've done all my homework I can from home i.e.. maps talked to regional bio called blm office, google earth pics. but nothing beats talkin to someone who's actually put their boots on the ground. We are leaving the 28th and will be hunting 3 days of n.f. west of Clark and 3 days of prairies around Powell.I'm trying to get my 13yr old son his first deer[missed one last yr.].We will be staying in Clark so any info would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance Kram and son

Went over for the opener with my son and hunted 105 and 106. I was really disappointed in the amount of deer we saw. My son did get an 18" 4 point but I think it was a gift from god. It was by far the biggest buck we saw why we were over there. It was ridiculously warm and dry, we were hunting around 9000' and it was around 80 degrees every day. I've heard the weather changed for the better and there was now snow where we were hunting so maybe some deer have started to move down out of the wilderness. I've heard the end of the season is much better. Good luck.

We also just got back. The hunting was tough. Never made it out towards Clark so I am not much help there. If you are not picky you shouldn't have any trouble finding antlered deer. Here is a short write up:

Just got a report back that the weather has heated up again so who knows.

Headed over on the 1st. Got lucky and found a pretty good migration route we've been hunting. Didn't have the weather to really get them going last year, but it still was great hunting. Hopefully this year, there will be some good snow up high to get the big boys headed down. The trick is holding out to the end of the season, it closes the 10th.

That hunt is tough until late season. Most bucks will be up high, like really high, like why would a deer be up that high kind of high, until the snow and/or rut pushes him down. I plan on drawing the 105,106,109 late hunt next year. Good luck.

Hopefully we get some cooler weather over there. I'm headed over on Nov. 2nd for a week of hunting up in the wilderness area outside of Clark

Thanks for the replies.Sounds like I either need to get lucky or have some weather and find a migration route.Wish I could spend all the days either in the forest or the prairie but this was the only week I 'm able to take vacation.
Jphelps sounds like you had to earn those bucks! To Ice cap and link let all of us know how it goes and I'll do the same.
Good hunting Kram

Looks like the area might get some snow in the next couple of days
We'll be heading over on Friday, couple hunting partners are on there way now so hopefully they can do some scouting for me! My son and I are like a couple of 5yr. olds leading up to x-mas. Ice cap was that a draw only tag for the wilderness? I would really love to see some pics. of the area your hunting, from the photos I've seen it looks beautiful but also steep over there.Goodluck
