White river elk
« on: July 07, 2008, 11:38:51 AM »
Just talked to the biologist for the white river unit. she said that this is probably the last year for permit only. she told me that the elk we are saving from limiting hunting pressure the Indians are making up for in increased harvest so its a wash unless they limit there hunting pressure as well. sorry to all the guys who have been hoping for a quality hunt up there someday ( me included). :bash:

Bullchaser,

I live in Enumclaw. I agree the tribes aren't exactly playing by the rules.

Can I ask you the name of the bio you talked with ?

It wasnt much of a hunt before it was draw only, although I normally saw elk, just never any bulls.  I like to hunt the area, because its close by.

Used to love hunting that area and had taken elk there, but after being shot at while stalking elk and seeing the wanton destruction of entire herds by tribal members, I stopped going there.  It is too bad.  Used to be a great unit, and of course, they will never regulate the tribal slaughter.
