anyone have any grouse sounds for foxpro?
« on: October 28, 2011, 09:42:05 PM »
I have not started making my own sounds for my foxpro, but might need to start. I am trying to expand my libary of sounds of animals/birds that are in the areas I tend to hunt. So I am looking for grouse, quail, etc. I already have alot of rabbits, a few turkey(for predator use only due to one of my areas having tons of turkeys and that yotes steal my decoys almost yearly) yotes, fawn distress, calf distress etc. I looked on foxpro and they dont have grouse. Anything you guys could think of let me know.

This site has a lot of free sounds and has a section on upland birds.

A grouse call is one I have been trying to find for a while and still havent found one. I looked in the upland bird part of that website and there is no grouse specific calls there either. Whenever you spook a momma grouse in the spring when shes got brand new babies she will do the dieing grouse walk and make a squawking sound that makes you pay attention to her instead of trying to look for her babies and that is the call Ive been trying like heck to find. I would think that every coyote and bobcat knows exactly what that sound is and would be a very successful call considering how much of their diet consists of grouse.  :twocents:
I plan to go out next spring to try and record that sound and give it a try.

Lol  No prob.

I actually called one in while trying to call cougars once.  I was playing cougar vocals on the Foxpro and a freaking grouse came blasting into the trees right above my head.  Scared the crap out of me.  Then it started making those noises.  I thought it sounded a lot like a guinea pig.  Stayed up in the branches the whole time making a fuss.
