For as much time as I put in this year, I am so thankful to get this thing down. Started early getting a ride from a friend to get dropped off and do some hiking. We went up to glass a couple clearcuts first, trying to catch something still out and running around. We were starting to plan our route of hiking and walking back to the truck, when we see this guy about 200yds behind us on the road we came in on. He was staring right at us, and at first I thought it was just a doe cause of the antlers kinda blending in with his ears. My buddy then told me get your gosh darn(you know what he really said) gun out its a buck. So i quickly get my gun out and loaded, by this time he is starting to move into the cut below the road and I cant find him as I am trying to get my pack stable on the ground so I can use it as a rest. By this time he is within 150yds and jogging right at us, then stops below and is staring right at me, chest sticking out. I go for the front shot, ended up just getting the lower jaw and completely blowing it completely off of his head
He started to slowly walk away, shaking his head, I take one more shot and miss
Then he finally comes to a stop, still shaking his head but looking really bad, last bullet in the clip bam right in the side, deer down. Kinda sucks I didnt get to do some hiking, I wanted to really do some work for a deer; but since ive put so much time in already it was good to see some blood on the hands, finally.
He would have been a little 3x3 but on the side you can see well one of the tines was broken off.
