So me, my buddy and my Dad went elk hunting in Montana. This was back middle of Sept for archery. Only saw one 5 x 5 for most of the week then Thursday and Friday we tried a new area we couldn't get to before, got pointed in the right direction by a local logger. Found a big herd Thurs AM, another 3 bulls and a herd Thurs night, and maybe 5 bulls on friday AM, it was hard to tell as they seemed to be everywhere, it's pretty damn cool when calling one and there are others answering to the side and behind you!
These two vid clips (really just audio) are from thursday night as we were going down a STEEP NASTY hill. I was mainly just calling for my buddy, as I had shot a nice WA bull a week before. My buddy was below and way to the right although at the time I though he was straight below me. I kept thinking he was cow calling but he found out later, he didn't make any calls. Anyhow, I almost got a shot at a bull bigger than my WA bull, he was 25 yds or so downhill just needed to come more to the right where an arrow would get through. You may have to turn up the volume to hear all the elk sounds, which makes my calling really loud....sorry.
Anyway I hope it shows some of the excitement we had for quite a few hours.
