Tag soup
« on: November 16, 2011, 07:48:02 PM »
Fixin me a big bowl of  Elk tag soup. hmmmmmmmm needs pepper.
Anyhooo
Blanked out on elk. Drew a Washougal antlerless tag.
Got into them on Sunday in heavy timber and brush. Had 1 chance at a cow, uphill, 8o yrds, while she was movin through the trees.
I think I shot high and burned her back. She bucked when I shot.
Got up to the trees, no elk, no blood, no hair. Just a bunch of torn up moss.
Spent 2 hrs trackin her. Nuthin.
So I will try again next year.

Don't worry I'm sure you'll get them next year . I can help you with that soup too - I have 4 instant soups -elk,deer,bear and cougar  :chuckle:which one would you like ? Lokidog said it right - I'm bad hunter and therefore I had smoked 250lbs of pork  :dunno:
Everyone thinks that I'm freak ,I don't look different do I ?

Tag Soup for me too.

Just saw one legal during general deer on the last weekend.  It was a blacktail 1x2.  It was also in my elk hunting area which opened the next weekend.  Decide it wasn't old enough to give me reason to crack a shot off in my elk area.  So he lives.  I'll be out of state during late buck so I won't be able to hunt that.  Saw some damn fine bucks in there during elk.  The rut was on...

Saw a good bull during elk.  By the time I closed the distance and could get to where I had a shot.  One of my partners had also closed in from another direction.  I had the crosshairs on him and was starting to put pressure on the trigger when he fell from my scope.  At least he went down to a partner.  Saw one more legal bull at 2,000 yards through a spotter.  By the time I got within range he found cover and I never saw him again.

All in all a great hunting season.  Just not much harvesting for me.

I can toss my tag in the pot also.
