THis buck was in a draw yesterday..chasing a doe.  He had her penned down.  I walked 2 miles in and dropped into the draw where he was yesterday.
As the sun came up it was difficult to see and the doe spooked but the buck penned her and ran her back into the draw.  I circled down and went into a finger to see if I
could see them.  They were know where.  I moved to check one more spot in the steep draw and they come running out the bottom 300 yards below me.  She wanted to go down but
he pushed her right towards me.  They ran 150 yards up towards me.  I wait until he is broadside at 100-150 (lost my rangefinder).  Anyways I missed my first shot and then he ran up the draw about
40 yards further and stops and then sees his doe and stops.  By then I had jerked my ripcord and had reloaded.  Took aim and squeezed and hit him solid.  He ran 10 yards and rolled.
I was using a Knight Bighorn 300 gr. Hornady SST, 100 grains of 777.  I am a very happy camper.  Worked hard all week found some great bucks and seen lots of younger bucks.
Nothing better than the Blues in the Fall.
