Help with message text
« on: November 25, 2011, 09:06:31 PM »
I did not see this posted, maybe it is just my junk messed. When I try to type a message or reply my text runs off the end of the screen. So, I cannot see what I have type, nor can I fix it unless I make like a whole bunch of short lines.

Here is a picture of what I am talking about:

I did the alphabet and if I keep typing without hitting "enter" to go to the next line down, it will just go and go.

 Any suggestions?

Oh, btw, when I post what I have typed, it comes out the way that it should. Maybe it is no big deal. I will type a bunch of short lines and see if they come out short lines, lol.

And here is my test, I will only type until my text hits the end of the screen. At that time I will copy and paste a few lines to see what /end
it looks like when I post.

Hmmm, well, it seems to come out exactly the same. NVM, I guess :dunno:

A couple of suggestions...

First, this is only an issue with the "Quick Reply". You can either start typing in the the Quick Reply box and then click the "preview" button below, or don't use Quick Reply at all, and instead click on the "Reply" button directly under the last post in a thread.

Second, if you're using Internet Explorer, switch over to "Compatibility View" and the problem will go away.

Thanks for the input. FTR, I don't see a "quick reply" box. I do not use IE, either. I reply in the "Reply" box. No biggie. I will just adjust it as I type.

Same problem.  Being going on since the last server issue.   You can hit enter as you get near the right side. Or, you can just be reluctant to post.

If you just go down to the bottom of a thread there is a box you can type a reply in, and right above it on the left side it says "Quick Reply".

That's how it is on mine anyway, not sure why yours would be different. Like I said, I only have the issue there. If I click on the reply button, I can type and the text goes in normally.

Same problem here.  I use Firefox and  Reply.  There is no Quick Reply option.

I'm not sure why they would be different. Maybe there are some settings in the profile that can be adjusted. I'll look into that. But like I said, mine works fine, as long as I don't try using the Quick Reply. Weird.

OK, I found in the profile settings where you can turn on or turn off quick reply. But that still doesn't solve the problem that you guys are having. Here all this time people have been complaining about this particular problem, and I thought it was only an issue when using Quick Reply (because that's how it is for me).

But apparently there is another problem but it's not showing up for me. I suppose it could be a browser issue and maybe has to do with security settings or something like that, but really I have no clue.

Only thing I can suggest is to try Internet Explorer instead of Firefox, and switch it over to compatibility mode and see if that helps.
