Cherry buster!
« on: November 25, 2011, 10:09:29 PM »
Well, it's a long story that has no ending. Maybe a chapter will end tomorrow morning. First off I am
no expert in hunting of any sort, but I have killed my share of animals in the last 34 years. I have a good
that finally took hunters ed last year at I think 27. We met nearly 10 years ago through work, he quickly
became a regular among the usuals that ran together. He followed all of us on our hunting adventures but
never lifted a gun at an animal. After he passed the "class" he got his rifle tag and then realized that a
gun in a group of bowhunters was an issue. He tried a few times last year with no luck.
Well a few weeks ago I asked if he was ever gonna try bowhunting and he showed more interest. Luck
would have it that another friend had an extra bow for him to shoot and he has been pulling that string
none stop since, and I am happy with the progress he has made.
Earlier in the season I was lucky enough to make friends with a guy that gave me and my buddy "Brando"
permission to hunt his property. I actually met this guy through Tman (a member). We went up and walked
the area and set our blind up on a hot area with frequent doe movement and lately a few nice bucks. I asked
Brando if he was gonna hold out for a buck and he is just excited to be able to fill his tag.
So hopefully tomorrow I post a picture of a new addition to our addiction with his first harvest, and an archery
one at that. He also has a little boy with another on the way that will keep out traditions and sport going.

Tman, I know I told you that if I don't notch a tag this year I am done, well if Brando gets his first notch I
will give it another year. Maybe next year we will get a bow in your hands and bring you to the dark side....

Season ended and Brando didn't fill his tag, but he got 2 shots  at 2 different does. Another buddy came up from Sunnyside and tried to get his first recurve kill with no luck.

Bring tman over for a little shooting at my pad...we have room.

Congrats on the season. It would have been nice to see a pig buck for your buddy, but hopefully the lessons learned and memories will bring him back forever.

Tman is on the fence still, can't blame him he has had some good luck with the bucks and a rifle the last couple years. We'll see...

Gotta give it a try here soon.  Maybe when you have a backstrap bbq  :chuckle:.  Always wanted to give the "bow" a chance, heck now that I have 3 others in the fam rifle hunting, I may need to switch over just to get to go out by myself.  No promises on whether it'll take or not, but I sure want to try.
