Archery tag filled with 3x4 blacktail
« on: November 28, 2011, 01:45:00 PM »
Spoted him bashing and raking his antlers on a small tree from 100 yards away.Got low and stalked to 70 when I noticed some does bedded down between us.Then to my right a 2 point walks out of the timber.I range him at 20 yards.Im debating taking a easy shot at the little buck or trying to get closer to the big one.Just when I decide to try and get closer he starts comeing in fast right at me.Through the range finder I read 60,50,40,30,at 25 I put it down and go to full draw. The little buck had already ran away and now the big guy stops and starts to turn back as I let my arrow fly.He runs for the timber with blood pouring out his side. With only 10 minute of light I mark were he was last seen and head back to the truck.Got back at first light and found him in under 10 minutes. This is my first year bowhunting and the biggest blacktail ive seen in person.160 pounds at the butcher.

Nice Blackie... wall hanger for sure!
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Many people (me included)  :chuckle: dream of being in your situation every year when late season starts and very few of us are ever in that situation. Having to choose between two bucks with the bow is a decision I will make any day! That is an awesome buck! Congratulations. Public land?

Awesome buck i love rutted up black tails!!!!

Well any buck with a big neck all rutted up is awesome, that had to be a cool experience as well, along with getting to harvest an awesome deer.
