Nebraska Mule Deer Hunting Question???
« on: July 13, 2008, 05:49:48 PM »
Any of you guys that do the out of state hunting ever hunted or considered Nebraska. One of very few states that an OTC mule deer permit can be purchased. The Sandhills unit had 88% 2 yeard old or better bucks harvested last year. The tag is only $178. Just curious if anyone has hunted that part of Nebraska? Thanks

I grew up near there.  Used to be easy access.  Now many places charge or have outfitters that have land tied up.  Great place to hunt if you can find an area.

Sounds good until you try and drive there, flying may not be much cheaper...damn gas prices >:(
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or destroy it, piss on it and walk away!

Anyone who struck out wanna go on a Hunting Washinton road trip. OTC tag is $178. We can get 4 guys in one quad cab truck. I'll drive. We can split fuel. I was talking to a guy here who said good opportunity of 150-160" bucks on private land. He said people are still pretty freindly and if you do some knocking for an evening someone will let you hunt. The big bonus is the rifle hunt is in mid November during rut. I thought it might be a fun deal if you had about 7 or 8 days to burn and a few hundred bucks.  :dunno: :dunno:

Come on Sniper. Lets do it.

Why not Idaho instead? OTC tags are available and you'll spend more time hunting and less driving.

Used to hunt pheasants in the Sand Hills, saw lots of toad whitetails, a few mule deer.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
