First ever duck hunt!!!
« on: December 08, 2011, 08:43:33 PM »
I'm hooked! Apparently it wasn't even a good day but I'm already hooked! HUGE thank you to Fowlweather25, who was kind enough to take me out and introduce me to my new addiction  :chuckle: Started out the morning with an owl fly-by nearly giving me a heart attack, and the rest of the day was awesome! I can't even describe it... I had an absolute blast! I didn't manage to hit anything, but still got sent home with 4 ducks :D Thank you so much for the amazing day! Can't wait to get out again soon! For the time being, seared marinated Bufflehead breast, ala Mac n' Cheese hehehe

Sound like fun.  I see why you were sent home with the Buffleheads.  Enjoy those to the fullest.  They will get better eating as you move up the food chain.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

I got 2 buffleheads, a pintail, and a mallard :IBCOOL: I've heard buffleheads aren't the best eating so I figured I'd see what I could do with them first :) I think they turned out pretty well actually hehe

got pics?
Also, how did you end up cooking the bufflehead?

I slice mine thin and stir fry in some teriyaki sauce.

Only pic I have is on my phone. I marinated the bufflehead in a balsamic marinade for a day before basically stir frying it. Turned out ok... but the recipe needs a little tweaking

Teriyaki marinade will make anything taste good! The pin and mallards should do just fine in the fying pan!
shut up and fish!.
