He will undoubtably be seated. Can the governor usurp the commission's authority and rule making process??  Or overrule the commission ??

Lots of hunters don't help hunting.  I'm afraid Kehne is one.

Which is why I contacted my senator asking for her to reject the appointment.

People need to remember that WDFW is the Dept of Fish and Wildlife, not Dept of Fishing and Hunting....

This is very true Tex.

As I've pointed out in numerous threads, just a few short miles east of our state you see game agencies that are about fish and wildlife, but are also very involved with the sporting community.  The farther east you go, the more involved they become.  Citizens and the game agencies are tight knit groups there.

I would point out that while we need to remember the current objectives of the WDFW - perhaps the WDFW needs to remember a few things as well.

Also - completely off that topic for that portion of the discussion ... has anyone seen Kehne?  Not to sound immature and childish, but if he's an avid elk hunter then he's hunting elk out of a blind he didn't have to walk far to reach and the elk he's hunting aren't hanging out in any tough to reach to locations.  He clearly hasn't missed a meal lately.  It just frustrates me to see yet another "expert" on our wildlife who, by appearance, hasn't set foot in a gym in some time let alone in the backcountry where the wildlife they claim to be experts on live.

Some might flame me for saying something like that, but so be it.  It's how I feel

Here is my reply to Kehne's (see first post on this thread) and his 2nd response:

Thank you Jay for your reply. With Washington being the last state into the wolf issue I would hope that we don't ignore data and the effects the wolves are having on our neighboring Rocky Mtn states. Fish and Game departments are loosing support and trust from the hunting community faster than ever.  I hope as a newly appointed commission member you will not be irresponsibly and ignorantly persuaded by pro-wolf biologists trying to push an agenda in Olympia. Subjective agendas are not "science."
Your fellow hunter,
Andrew

I will do my best and not forget my roots as a hunter,  have a great weekend.  jay

Correct.
Which is why WDFW does not need hunters. They will always have fish and wildlife to manage with or without hunting.

That's why they brought the wolves in, they dont want or need hunters anymore....

Exactly...  Whenthere is little to hunt why need hunters?  You do not need them.  If you cannot hunt why need wildlife employees will be move into fishing then fish have feelings and the bunny huggers will move to hugging trout.

... and, the WDFW needs to remember that a large chunk of their funding does come from hunters and fishermen. It's one thing to have diversity on the commission. It's another altogether to stack it against hunters to push through programs which make no sense. The wolf plan is only one such program which apparently has no basis in science or reliance on the previous experiences of other states.
