Anyone see any white tail bucks in the swakane unit? I did!
« on: December 12, 2011, 12:15:36 AM »
On the last day of late archery I had 5 bucks and 12 does run right in front of me at 100 yards. (All small bucks. One ok sized 4x4.) I tried to use my grunt call to get them to stop. Well it worked on one buck. He turned around and froze looking right at me.  I tried to sneak up to him but couldn't get a shot so I took my arrow and put in back in my quiver. I sat on the hill watching the deer side hill over the next finger with my bino's. While watching them I herd something running through the buck brush on my left side. I look in the direction of the noise and I see a big 4 point whitetail deer.  :yike:  He was tall and had long tine length. I couldn't be leave it when I saw it. Anyone see any of them in this unit?? (swakane)

I have yet to see a buck in that unit however i usually manage to see at least one whitey doe every year during bow season. I did see a nice whitey buck in the entiat in 2004 during the late rifle season. I even saw one whitey doe in my grandparents orchards in the sunnyslope, but thats been about 10 years ago. There area few out there.

Yes there is whitetails up there but very few and far between. During the early season i was in the entiat area and talked to some locals and they said that there was a big tall 4 point running around in that area. I believe you probably saw that buck
