Barking coyote
« on: December 14, 2011, 06:27:45 PM »
I was out chasing coyotes today saw total of 10,  One of the coyotes i saw started barking at me, I ranged it and it was 610 yards , lay down to dial the scope, coyote takes off so no shot, never had one bark at me before, does that mean i was busted?

Yup. There's a spot we go that we usually get there and sit in the rig for a little bit. As soon as we get out we usually have a one start barking at us. Best thing I've learned is leave that dog alone and try to find him later.

Yes they have several different barks. The one you heard I am sure was a warning bark. If you ever hear it when you are on stand or in the field that means you are busted. A lot of time they will sit and warning bark from aways away. There is also a challenge bark that you will hear a lot if you howl during the breeding seasons. I use this call a lot to tick off the locals and have them come in to re claim there area from the intruder

If you hear this it means you were busted.

But if you hear this... it is more of challenge or warning and it is still possible to get them to come in.

But even with the challenge howls sometimes the coyote has an invisible line he wont cross or has figured out that something just isnt right even though he has not really busted you as a human.

Oh yeah the first video sounds exactly like the coyote  today,  BUSTED!
No wonder i did not see a thing after the barking session, he warned all his buddies  :bash:

yep- if they start that it's going to be awful tough to get them to come to anything.  Before the WDFW rule change...based on emotions it used to be  the perfect time to turn the dog loose and let her bring that coyote in.

Be careful with those howlers...it's very easy to screw up the note.  You're better off going through a bunch of different distress sounds.  (try meadowlark!!!   )

75 you're a step ahead of me. How do you rip them from his website?

You should be able to right click the link to the sound and click on "save link as" or "save target as" then tell the computer where you want it saved.

Geez Kain - I just played the 2 clips and my beagle woke from a dead sleep and is sitting at the door waiting to challenge the challenge.

CoryTDF called in a coyote by barking like a dog and lip squeaking...Video on his cell phone is hilarious. He got it to within 100 yards but he wasnt carrying a gun becuase he was hunting his late buck hunt in Mallot
