got that in a text, from a buddy who knows the guy who was allowed to tag it. He'd been hunting it for most of the season. It was coming into his hay pile from across a major road. My buddy joked the other day that the buck would probably get hit by a car coming to his hay pile....well, guess what happened. The guy was at the buck when the gammie arrived and asked if he could use his archery tag on the buck and was granted permission, so at least it won't go to waste...nice buck.
Where abouts in PO county was this bad boy hit.. North or south? I'm from Ione, I wanna know if that sucker was hit up in my area.. I saw a deer larger than this bad boy one time up smackout road back about...12 years ago lol.
I thought all roadkills belong to the State?

I heard that the buck ended up going with the fish and game officer. Whoever found it was getting ready to cut the head off when a state trooper showed up. The state trooper then called fish and game and they came out and picked it up. I will do some checking and see what I can find out. I am in law enforcement as well so give me a few days but I will find out.
I can't wait to see the story the hunter comes up with on this one
2 pages in and not a "Why would anyone want a rack that they didn't kill themself" or "I would never want a set of antlers that I didn't kill myself" Great looking buck. It is great to see what the NE corner of this state continues to produce. A real shame someone couldn't have taken him with a gun or bow.

They told me that the game officer let the kid take his picture with it and then took the deer into custody.
See the WA plates on the car in the background?
I got basically the same story as Norse except that the kid that hit it was allowed to tag it. I also saw a pic from a few days before his demise. No way in hell I would say where. I wouldn't have even put up the county on the internet. Come to think of it I heard it was down by Colfax. All the big bucks are down south.
yeh you wouldnt think the game warden would allow him to illegally tag a buck unless he doesnt want his job anymore

I don't think an auto qualifies as a legal weapon during an archery only season. And besides, It was shot on and from the road so there's another ticket.

I don't "kill" sheds when i pick them up
