You drew a good one. I drew Blue Mtn Foothill A. Have hunted it several times over the years. Go for as long as you can afford to as anytime during the season you may find the bruisers rutting. Usually what you see is the smaller bucks getting active from the start of the season...Nov. 5 up to the 10th or 12th, then the bigger guys start showing up. If you can only go for say half the season....go the last half.
Secret to killing a big whitetail during this season is passing on severasl shooter bucks or smaller bucks. Look for does and glass. Look for single does off by themselves and glass the surrounding area for tending bucks. Find a good one this way and stalk the doe to get in position. Where she goes...he goes. Find areas with lots of activity...scrapes, rubs etc......park yourself and pretend you're turkey hunting...in other words...be patient, sit and watch good areas all day if you have too.
Remember......if it looks huge...it's huge. If in doubt....pass. A great season....you're going to have a blast. Get maps....look for state, Boise, etc public lands. Go over early if you can and knock on doors to get permissuon. Good amount of Hunt by Permission, Feel Free to Hunt lands signed up under WDFW programs. Good areas....from Columbia Center (small dot on map) all the way east toward Clarkston through Peola. Do your homework now.
