Bachelor herd today - photo Buck-et
« on: December 31, 2011, 04:36:23 PM »
Not really a bachelors herd...but they were grouped up this morning, and I totally blew my chance. was in a new area and unfamilar terrain had the littlest buck of the bunch stand up fifty yards away and I would have been alot more patient if I had known of the 4 bigger ones below right out of my sight.  tried to take a step to get more comfortable and they all took off...only that one buck recognized me for what I was. the others just followed his lead. they soon bedded back down. but I wasnt able to get much closer.

the wind changed and they got a little nervous and finally drifted off...spent almost two hours with these guys today. New spot was a success. 9 bucks total and maybe 30 doe I seen a couple coyotes also. I can go back with a little more knowledge of the terrain and deer habits maybe get some better photos.
