Boat shops (Tri-cities)
« on: January 18, 2012, 09:02:12 AM »
Being new to the area, who do you guys recommend in the area?
Just looking for someone to do some small work on the boat if it's needed and I dont have time, a place to order parts from, boat and trailer wise, and someone that can do some good aluminum welding.
Thoughts?

Oops.  Placed in the wrong forum, sorry about that.

Really depends on what motors you have.  Boating Solutions is a very good mercury deal and has the parts I need in stock about 75% of the time.

Northwest is ok but my experience with them is that they are overpriced and the quality of work is not what I expected.  I have them do what I considered a small job, mounting a pro motion anchor nest.  I left them the boat, the anchor and the nest.  $150 later I had an anchor nest that my anchor barely fits in with out hitting the boat.

My personal opinion on custom work is find someone you trust.  For me that involved an 11 hour round trip drive, but my friends have been so impressed with the work that 2 of them have made the same trip to have work done on their boats.

I agree with the comment of finding someone you trust.  My only problem with that is that I moved out here from South Carolina and everyone that I trust and know lives and works there.
Thanks for the help and comments guys.  I will talk with both of these places and come up with a plan.
