Wolves kill mule in NE Oregon

Oregon wildlife officials think wolves killed mule

SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Oregon wildlife officials say a mule found dead recently in northeast Oregon's Wallowa County was probably killed by wolves.

Spokeswoman Michelle Dennehy said Wednesday the carcass was found last Friday on private rangeland east of Joseph, Ore.

Wildlife officials say wolf tracks were found in nearby snow and data from a previously collared wolf show he was a mile west of the site on the day the dead mule was found. Officials also considered a history of recent livestock kills in the area.

Evidence showed a number of species -- including coyotes, wolves, ravens and eagles -- showed up to dine on the carcass.

That Mule needed to be killed by a wolf becuase humans encroached on the Mules traditional rangeland and  natural  habitat  :bash: :chuckle:

Must of been coyotes that killed the mule. The wolves here in Washington never kill anything but they sure do eat well on all those coyote kills.
