line x on rocker panels?

My truck gets some serious rock chips on the rocker panels so I am thinking of having them Line x or rhino liner coated. Anyone have theirs done? Or recommend a place around Spokane?

My father in-law had his dodge done this last year to cover up chips and it looks great even got rid of little dents! You don't eeven notice it unless you look for it! I will have my truck done when I get a new one

What product? I dont have a air compressor or spray gun. My truck is nice and I wouldn't want to screw it up.

Gator Gaurd is a good product and can be rolled on. One of the bigger liner companies also makes a roll on, maybe Herculiner? Mask off at the body, sand the area to be covered with ROUGH paper, like 80 grit and roll to desired texture. Be sure to clean the area well before applying with a wax and grease remover to ensure good adhesion.

Most spray on liner companies have a roll on kit and a spray kit and a rattle can kit. Look at the 4x4 club websites. thenewx.org has a bunch of people that do it on their xterras and some people spent a lot of time to write up tutorials and post up a ton of pictures. Same concept and ideas though.

I saw a brand spanking new chevy that had a DIY job on the rocker panels and it looked like sh*t...ruined the truck. It made me a little gun shy about the home jobs. Have you done it yourself with better results? Would be interested in more pointers

My buddys dodge looks awesome he did I think duplicolor from schucks in a spray can. Very impressive and as soon as it warms up ill be doing my rigs with it.

I checked into rhino lining, its spendy, for my boat, so I bought some herculiner and did it myself, turned out awesome.  I have a bunch of grey left yet too. It rolls on

A guy needs to be careful with prep and getting it layed out evenly, I have done my own beds and rockers on different trucks and have been happy. Will be doing the ol heavy chevy rockers this spring. Where are you located?

Woodchuck hit it perfectly. Prep work is the biggest issue. Take the time to use the right sandpaper to scuff up your paint. Use the good expensive masking tape, there's a reason it costs more. Follow the directions and don't spill anything. Also consider where you will rub the truck getting in and out. Seen some guys missing some skin because they put it on their side rails and were wearing shorts.

Just my opinion here, but if you have it done, Line-X is superior to Rhino.

 I had my wheel well areas on my boat trailer Line X'ed and have no regrets. It even has better grip on your feet when wet. I bet it would work well on your rocker panels. I too would go Line X over Rhino.

thanks for the input, i will be checking into line x places in spokane and CDA soon for prices. i doubt ill try myself because i dont want to risk screwing up. are there any issues with peeling on the corners of teh doors or anything like that? how bout the edges of the wheel wells huntnphool? they peel at all?

 Its been on for 6 years now, in and out of lakes, rivers and the salt, no peeling yet.

Talked to line x of Spokane yesterday. Looks like 800-850 for the rockers. Gonna call around a bit and check other places. That is around what I was expecting. Need to do my taxes and see when ill be able to have it done.

Just called line x in coeir d alene and was told around 450. That's a large difference in price... hmm
