Bushnell's free buckscore software
« on: January 24, 2012, 03:23:48 PM »
I just got my first trail cam- Bushnell Trophy 8mp.
It cam with a free buckscrore software coupon. Of course, I first played with it and while reading the manual to see how it worked. Then, after I was happy, I went to register it online, since I am horrible about that, I thought I would start to change my ways and registered it in case I had any warranty issues. While doing so I noticed it came with some free "BUCKSCORE" software. I will, for now, call it BS software.
I really can't say much about it accept it seemed to be an hour (me and my computer are slow) of my life that I will never get back.
Am I not too bright, or is this a waste of time software? I do realize they are trying to hook you with their "super BS" software.

I have used the Buckscore software, although it was not through bushnell.  the Software was developed by the university of Mississippi and is based on the idea that mature whitetail deer in a given region will have the same size (diameter) eye ball or the same width ear.  if you can accurately measure the eyeball or ear with the software then when you measure the horns with the same software if will be able to give you a score based off of the ratio between the two.  kind of confusing i know, and it is a lot of clicking and erasing and trying again to get your measurements just right.  It also requires an almost perfect picture where all the tines are visible.  At first it takes a lot of time to get use to, but after a while you can score a picture of a buck in less than five minutes.  I scored a buck with it last year that bucksore put a 149 1/8. my buddy shot that same deer shortly after and when we actually scored it he was 147 5/8.  anyways its a neat program and it gives you something else to do with all those pictures of bucks we collect all year.

Here is a link that might offer give you a better idea of what im talking about.
