Mt Wolf down.
« on: January 31, 2012, 10:32:20 AM »
Dad got this female yesterday around noon.  Figured she weighed around 90lbs, so probably an average female.  He was pretty excited and I am excited for him as well.  First pic is from the woods and second pic is from dropping him at the Taxi today.

Are you going to get a full mount on that wolf?  Great job on harvesting one

Just having it tube skinned and tanned for now, may proceed to a full mount in the next year or so.  Between his bull elk of 2010, and his bull moose this past fall, he figures he's paid the Taxi's house payment enough for the near future, but I foresee him coming around in the next year or so.

He shot this in the North Fork of the Flathead, where he lives.  Not much of a story on the hunt, he saw a wolf, he shot a wolf.  Wasn't a called in wolf type situation, shot it on his own property.  He lives in the middle of nowhere, if you guys remember the story of his Moose this fall, he lives 48 miles from power and 52 miles up a dirt road.  So he see's wolves from his front door multiple times a year.  these wolves in his country are not considered part of the "experimental population" these are considered true migrators from Canada, not really transplants.  Dad is about 3 miles from the Canadian line as the crow flies, and we've been seeing/hearing wolves since about 1981-82 up there.
