Could be Weyerhouser property. I know just what you mean, but I don't have an answer for you. I have had many times where I have scouted an area in the summer, found great area and elk, then opening morning its either A) an open gate or B) 17 rigs parked at the gate. The best way is to either learn from experience or hope someone can offer advice, which can be pretty tough since most people are tight lipped about their hunting spots especially elk.

If it's Weyerhaeuser, they let their employees drive in and hunt in SW Wa.

I've worked for Weyerhaueser for over 30 years and live in Toutle and if the gates are locked
we as employees are not allowed to hunt while driving behind locked gates.
There have be employee fired for that.

Maybe I should not have said "SW Wa."  I believe it is in Weyerhaeuser's Pe Ell tree farm where employees have just recently been allowed to drive in behind locked gates to hunt, while eveyone else has to walk.

If you're biking, once you get behind the gate, the condition of the road itself should be a good indication of whether the gate is usually opened for hunting season.  You'd really be able to tell right now, more so than later in the spring/summer because the roads won't have recovered from the damage of many rigs rolling on it.

Just a thought

I have never heard of a website updating gate closure. Im going under the assumption that you have a spot picked out you are looking for information about. If thats the case, most timber co have a phone number designed to inform folks of access restrictions in a given area, either on a website or posted on gates. By and large timber company land in sw wa will be closed to vehicle traffic during september. Although there will still be plenty of vehicles working in the woods. Most timber co do a good job policing for tresspassers and policing their own, in my experience only. I say scout away :IBCOOL:..... Your bigger frustration will be when you have located some great spots....... And they lockdown for fire danger :bash:
