Moultrie m80 or m100?
« on: January 31, 2012, 08:38:04 PM »
Anyone try one of these smaller cameras? I was wondering if the night pictures were quality or not? Last year I had a Moultrie flash cam and it took over 13,000 pics and worked great. The batteries drained pretty fast though. Anyways just wondering if any of you have tried these mini cameras? The black one is the m80 and the camo is the m100.

I got the m80. I liked my first one so much I got two more.  I think the only difference between the two is that the 100 has a viewing screen on it.  It takes pretty good pictures.  the 80 is on sale online at Cabela's for $109 too.  Here's a couple night pictures.

as far as batteries it does awesome with the lithium ion. It took close to 2000 pics and still showed over 90% battery life. I tried using alkaline at first and they were totally drained after about 400 pics.

Hey for $100 it seems like a pretty nice camera. I was gonna ask about the battery but you beat me to it.

I've got a m80 and im not overly impressed. I have had alot of problems with it so far. At first it wasnt taking any night pics and lately it hasnt been taking pics at all. Last time i checked it i stood in front of it waving my arms for about 15 seconds and it did not take a pic. When it does work i think i still miss alot of pics because the sensor doesnt seem to sense smaller game like rabbits and birds. The night pics still have a lot of motion blur to them but it lights up the night like no other camera ive seen. I also noticed that i seem to get alot of butt shots when the deer are around.

I have a M100 and love it, it takes really good night pics and the day time pics are great quality as well, the viewing window is nice but I really only use it to make sure I have it set in the right spot and it's taking pictures where I want it too.

The bull in this pic is standing by sage brush that is probably 20 yards away from the camera and you can still see him very clearly.

I mentioned that the m80's were on sale at cabela's for $109, but that didn't include the $14 bucks for shipping.  You can get them at Amazon for $114 and free shipping.
