Jim Reynolds Thunderstick - Woods Used?

I bought a Thunderstick on Ebay about 7 or 8 years ago and it's too much bow for me. My old shoulders are getting ripped up. Is there a way to tell which woods were used to make it so I can put it up for trade for a lighter bow? It's a 66" bow with 55lb at 27". My draw is 30". I'd like to trade it for something around 50LBs at my draw. Does anyone know if Reynolds will tell me what it's made of if I send in the serial number, and whether someone would trade for it? Great condition with no nicks or chunks missing.

It's has a bocote handle and elm limbs.

I'd trade for a 55# Thunderstick in a heartbeat. I retired a 64" 60# Thunderbird a few years ago due to glass problems. But the only thing I have that would be about the right weight for you is a RH 45# Shakespeare Necedah recurve that is in very good condition.
Reynolds should be able to tell you what wood it is. A photograph or two posted here might also gain you that information...

I've written to Reynolds to see if they'll let me know the types of wood used. Here are some shots. The only real wear is that the tips could be buffed - They're a little dull. And, the leather handle cover doesn't look new, but there's nothing wrong with it and it wouldn't need replacement anytime in the near future. I also included the picture showing the specs and serial number (405111).

Looks much like mine except I have red elm limbs with the bubinga riser. I can't see the limbs in your photos much but they look to be more yellow than mine; perhaps yew? Also a layer of rock maple sandwiched in there, I think. Your tip overlays look to be horn like mine, too.

It's a beautiful bow. It's just too much for me. I ripped my shoulder a couple of weeks ago and I'm a little freaked out by it.

Slow and easy is right. I've got a good buddy who's a trainer at my gym and he's going to give me exercises to build up the strength around it.

Very nice bow, but I don't have anything light enough to do any trading... besides my old shoulders probably couldn't handle that DW anymore.

I understand. Well, if you haven't found someone to trade with by mid-April bring it up to the Rock Shoot at Moses Lake. Nothing but stickbow shooters there so it would be as good a place as any to swing a deal.
