Not saying it doesn't work, just saying it has never worked for me. I know tons of people use it and that's why I keep trying it but it still hasn't worked for me.

Have you tried using it from the start and just calling with it? Or just after you shoot something? I have had it work both ways. When they get dens and you can find there area, you can kill a lot of dogs with the 2 sounds paired together.

I have had more success using it from the get go.

I would also consider myself an average joe.

I would like to hear the input from some of the seasoned guys out there.

Kiyi or pup distress is a sound that is way overused thru out the year But is very effective if used in moderation @ the right time of year If you plan on calling the same ground .
Using Kiyi will cause ALARM to coyotes in area just as a warning bark .
Most coyotes that respond to a Kiyi are the dominant animals in said area.
Coyotes responding to a Kiyi are Not responding to help hurt pup as stated
but are responding to the sound of a hurt or fight between other less dominant coyotes in a area and are looking for a upper hand in the fight for food or whatever.
When used a lot in a given area over time coyotes will become less likely to respond to a Kiyi and will become suspect of said sound .
Best to use in small doses, @ peak times of year . Do I always use a Kiyi after a coyote is called in and shot? Not unless I'm calling for a camera and under the gun to produce more fur on film . Kiyi is again a sound that should be saved for the right occasion.But then again what do i know .

I want to first start off by saying i know that Foxpro is in the title, but i prefer Wildlife tech.   :chuckle:I find it so interesting how different people can call and still get the final result.  I wish it wasnt that way, i wish all you needed was a rabbit distress and they would come running but then again that is why it is fun.  I absolutely swear by a coyote distress and also pup distress.  I have gotten to the point that i cant remember the last time i called a yote without using one of those in the sequence.  Want to hear something even more interesting, i have never call anything in using a fawn distress.  I go to it every once in a while because i love the sound,  but it has never worked, not once.  What i would love to do is just tag along with a great caller and just watch.  No gun and no call.  Just follow beside them for a couple days, sit right next to them, and take it all in.

I always start with a howler, then depending on the food source where I hunt, I will use that animal as a distress.
