foxpro spitfire question
« on: February 13, 2012, 08:28:29 PM »
i did a search and didnt find what i was after.

anyhow my hunting partner just picked up a foxpro spitfire. hes not all that computer savvy so im in charge of moving sounds around. i got to looking at it and noticed that the storage device is a micro SD card, it came with a 256mb card and the box says it capable of 24 sounds.

now i have a 2GB micro SD laying around from an old cell phone and am curious if i were to use the 2GB card instead of the 256mb card could we put more sounds on the caller or is the 24 sound limit programmed into the remote?

i know im trying to get more for less, but can ya blame me, if it works that would be great if not im sure we can live with 24 sounds

thanks
uplander

I was looking at the manual online for the spitfire and I don't think that it would do any good because it is set up to play just 24 calls. I would call foxpro at 1-717-248-2507 and ask for Joe I have talk to him , and he has all ways been help full. Good Luck.

you can use a 2 gig card in the foxpro if you reformat it, they have directions on their site for how to do it. No you cannot due over 24 sounds on the foxpro at a time though. What I do is have 3 cards with a few common sounds then the specific ones for a area, then same on the next..

Yep just 24 sounds but those sounds can be very big.  I have a couple of sequences I made for cats that are 20 minutes long.

I like kain's mixes. I have confidence they bring stuff in cuz i watched him miss one with one of his sequences I "borrowed."  :chuckle: Kain, have you recorded any mouth calls successfully? I've been thinking about making a bunch into a sequence so I don't have to waste my breath. I meant mouth calls though, not closed or open reed calls.

Well if you use anything enough its bound to work a few times.   :chuckle:  I think most guys use a sequence that works for them even with mouth calls.  It might change depending on the season.  They may start out with a howl then wait five minutes then give another howl then wait another amount of time and throw in a rabbit distress then give a challenge howl and follow that with some Kiyi.  Kind of build a scenario out of it.  Everybody's recipe is different and depends on when/where/what they are hunting.

With bobcats and coyotes I hunt in close heavy cover.  I start with some rodent squeaks for a couple of minutes.  I feel this will get there attention without blowing them out of the area if they happen to be very close.  Give a little silence break then go to a raspy woodpecker/rabbit distress for a couple minutes.  30 second break then another couple minutes of the same distress which immediately goes into some high pitched rabbit cries for awhile.  Finish with a silence for a minute or two so I can listen for anything coming in.  Then it starts all over and I will let it run for an hour.

Your windows is telling you to GFY. I'd try reinstalling the program or running it under a different windows compatibility.

lol if GFY stands for what im thinking then yeah, and it happens on a daily basis.  i unistalled/reinstalled the program and i figured it out, the lock switch on the micro sd to full size sd card adapter broke off and permanently locked the adapter card so im thinking once i buy a new adapter card it should work, i love how the simplest solution to a problem is always the last one i think of.

thanks again
