I was actully thinking about going this weekend to try it out.  I assume the ice is safe?  Any tips on what to use or how to do it would be great!  I have never ice fished before.

Last time I fished it...more than 15 years ago, just used microjigs on light line tipped with maggots.

 :yeah:

We had the same story yesterday. The ice is the thickest I have ever seen on the lake, work up a sweet just punching a hole thru. It snowed pretty good all day but the fishing wasnt bad.  Worked the 25" mark with sweeds tipped with the usuall, about 2 cranks off of the bottom.
Amaizing how antlers can change a person!!

I bought a 6 inch mora auger.  It worked good.  Considering drilling through 16 to 18 inches of ice.  Not going to be easy.  Had to chase the fish around.  Did good early, then moved around.

Hey Jordan when I was up there a few weeks ago they were all in the 6-8 inch range.

most of the perch were 7 to 10 inches with a few that were close to twelve.  If you have time you can throw the smaller ones back and catch the bigger ones   i have found a 1 inch kastmaster tiped with a worm doest the best for me just off the bottom.  If they stop biting move until you find a biting school.  Alsp i noticed that different schools tend to be different sizes.  If you dont like the size your catching move on.  Kind of hard to do when they are biting :chuckle:

hey y'all went to our normal spots that we normally hammer 'em at on Sunday.. not a single bite. Sunny, warm, and REALLY windy.. I think the huge temperature switch from 30's to 50's in 1 day turned the fish.. ice was 18" think with 4" clear and 14" white.. there were puddles forming on top as the day went on and the surface got very soft and was slushy... don't know how long the ice will be good with how warm it is over here..
