Why A versus X bolt?

Note this is going to be a gun for new hunters to use and a gun that some of my clients will be shooting. So I am not wanting to spend a whole ton of money on a gun, that may be more the used and abused :chuckle: Every one of the tikka's we have shoot light out! Everyone that I have been around that shoots one says the same things.

Carp I'm gonna use your luepold statment . Tikkas just plain shoot well and I have not seen one that dosn't . I think a tikka in .270 would be tough to beat for a back up gun ! why mess around ?
And if you get a Tikka in .270WSM it is even better.

:chuckle: I already have a couple tikka's that are personal guns and this is by no means a backup gun for me :chuckle: You guys should know I am a gun Slu*. I have been very happy with the tikka's but got to looking at the browings the other day and liked them as well. It's more about what will fit a general group of shooters. Not looking for a gun for myself I have way to many of those already :chuckle:

Killbilly the 270wsm is one of my favorite cartridges! I already have 2! and am bidding on number 3 as I type. It is just to much gun for younger shooters in the lighter weight frame and also beginners as well. A bit to much recoil for a lot of my first time hunters.

In my opinion, the A bolt is too light for a cartridge that producers any more recoil than a 30-06. Even my 270 thumps me pretty hard when using 150 grain bullets.

I have 2 of them, bought one when they first came out in stainless then another a month later! .270 and .300wsm. Very light, yet durable. In my opinion the best feeling gun, plus they look great

I have 2 A-bolts and love them.  .243 and .300 Win Mag.  Very fine shooting rifles.

Bobcat,

The frame on my .300 is much larger and the barrel longer than the .243.  I'm guessing my .300 is a full 2 lbs heavier than the .243 and about 6" longer.  Never had an issue with recoil.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Matt they rock!!!!!! Lets see we have 2-270's 1-338 and my 270wsm. I also think dad bought a 300wsm x bolt. If you want to see em or shot they just talk to dad I am sure he will let you play with them. Dad bought a tikka 300 wsm then sold it at McCreedy's and bough the Browning. All of the A-bolt's are stainless stalkers.

Dang! now I have a dilemma on my hands :chuckle:

I will be at a gun show on Saturday and have a rifle I am taking down there. I might think about trading it in on either gun. So it might just depend on whats sitting on the tables :chuckle:

Wac: It's in vancouver on Saturday and sunday. If you are up for a little sturgeon gun show combo we could work that out :chuckle:

Carp...thanks.  Pretty much committed this weekend.  Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something close by.  Good luck at the show though.
