This house is not in a certified flood plain and the water is not from dams breaking. No dam within 100 miles of there and no dams on the river this house sits on, or in now. Not even a river or creek that feeds this river has a dam. This is the direct result of 23.2 inches of rain in 48 hours on this house and 20+" of rain in every direction from this house.

I completely agree with what you are saying, but neither of those apply to this location, oddly enough.

Very interesting. I guess there's some truth to these 1000 year floods...... I can't even imagine the much rain even being born and raised in the PNW.

Growing up and living in south and north Carolina, we heard word of 500 year floods ( even in the mountains, living of top of a mountain), especially dealing with insurance folks but never saw anything close to it. Calling this a 1000 year flood is insane. Having been through a ton of hurricanes, this house has never seen anything like this. The biggest flood the family has seen, even my grandfather who put this house out there, was about 4 inches over the walkway out to the dock you see in the pictures. This river is influenced by the ocean so there is a high and low tide, this morning they measured the water at 22 feet above extreme high tide. The water is still rising as the state drains. A picture an hour ago shows the water at the top of the screen porch, 6 or so inches higher than the picture I posted.

Cool pics, love the medicine womans house reminds me of the cabin I played in as a child and intended to run away and live in.  I hope the waters go down and everything is ok.  I have been through some pretty scary floods lost all my stuff but the houses made it through.
