Forgot to mention earlier but if you are thinking that with the BDC reticle you can just sight in at 100yds and BAM instant sniper think again.  I got one when they first came out and tried it on three calibers with multiple different loads and none worked well.  Circles just aren't precise!  There is a reason snipers use mill dots and not circles.  I guess I just expect groups tighter than 10inches at 300.  Is that good enough to kill an elk, yes but not every time and that is what we all need to strive for is shots that are on the money every time.  Just my  :twocents:
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

Have you considered getting closer? Beyond that, the .270wsm should hit hard enough if put in the right spot.

two things ....27O has treated my family well for over 50yrs or more.... my dad shot one before I was born ..then I grew up with a .243 which seen alot of death too ! :chuckle: I have put the .270 threw the test believe me.. I have killed animals as big as elk and bear with no problems ever and at longer rangers , but I am here to tell ya it definately where you put the bullet and what type of bullet you use.. 270 was designed for 130 gr which is fine but you use a 140 gr and sheet is a whole different story,, i agree with Bobcat ..to many BEST OF THE WEST FANS OUT THERE ... I do not care who you are or how good of a shot you think you are ...Shooting at game at 900 yrds or over is a little much ....plus I do not want to walk that far to retrieve my game  :chuckle: :chuckle: And @ RTspring it took me over 35 yrs to buy a mag .rifle and actually I enjoy it ....i bought a 300 WSM ..love it ....Plus I shot one deer with my friends 300 ultra and I am here to back you up on it dropping sheet .....it was well over the 300 mark and I just placed the crosshairs level with its back and squeeeeeeezed off and night night right now  :o :chuckle: :dunno:
