There is a shadow up above him, is that something you have hanging up there?  Looks kinda funny, almost like he is standing up right trying to sniff at it?  Cool pic though, suprised he's up and around with all that snow!

Blackies don't hibernate! They do take extended sleep sessions, but not like a Griz or Pol for the whole winter.  They'll go out and wander once in a while. Sometimes for food, but just to move the muscles and such. Then they'll go back to sleep for a bit.

If you snow shoe in the right areas, you'll see bear tracks in the snow. I'm sure there are some here that know where some bear dens are. Snow shoe in to them and you'll see that they aren't in total slumber.
