Also, there will be prizes for the longest fish and heaviest fish.  Not sure about a total weight prize, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Sounds like fun. I have never fished over there. So I wouldn't know where to start.  :chuckle:

Good luck.  Remember that's a pretty big body of water to catch one tagged fish during the hours of the one day derby.  Catch it 10 minutes late, and you're out the Jetcraft boat. :chuckle:

I know, I'm just dreaming again. I have won a prize in every salmon derby I've ever entered believe it or not. The Everett and Edmond's coho derbies, and the South Puget Sound derbie. I have yet to win one or win a boat so I think it's my turn.   :dunno:  It's my audacity of hope thingy!  :chuckle:

Actually kind of cheap if you look at what the prize may be.

Most bass tournies I fish are from a 175-350.00 per team and you have to fish seven of them just to get into the championship round to even hav a remote chance of winning a boat.

Can you imagine the amount of entries if the biggest overall fish won the boat?!

Yeah and I bet they would make more money in the long run.  I would like to know what percent of proceeds the tribe is receiving.
Maybe it can help fund one of the many law suits they are involved in.  Oh.... That's right they just received a 193 million dollar settlement from the federal government last month.

I'll be fishing it. $50 bucks is a little high but you get a t shirt, BBQ and a good shot at a prize.  If I read right the city of Bridgeport is putting it on and that town could use a few bucks.

I gave Nell's Cafe a call, talked to a wonderful lady that has lots of info to share. She says that 100% of all proceeds will be put back into the purchase of more Triploids for restocking into Rufus Woods. All other prizes will be supplied by the sponsers including Dave's boat. She's hoping for a very large turn out because Triploids for restocking are running over $8.00 a pound.

hmmmmm
is that the cost that the insurance company had to pay for the OOOPPS our nets broke in the high water when we were having a huge die off??? LOL..

don't get me wrong i love that they "released" them because they are a blast to catch and bring lots of revenue to the area...

The more you pay, the better it pays. The walleye turneys run 370.00 plus but they pay out pretty good. I plan on fishing it, They say you can launch at 5 different locations but I dont no if you have to have your fish back to where you launched by 3:00 and they transport them to the weight station or if you have to get them to the scales yourself by3;00. Any idea's?

I'm confused by the launching situation as well.  We have friends with property on Rufus where we usually launch. Can we launch there or do we have to use a designated one? Could be a mess I'd like to avoid.

"2) ALL anglers must check in Saturday morning, prior to fishing, at their designated
check-in location. NO EXCEPTIONS!

now does that mean you can't check in and then head back to your private launch to avoid the congestion? not sure.. i would call nell's and ask.. that is good question.

Curious to see how many people are planning on being there for the derby. Sounds like it is going to be a good turn out.

I talked to Nancine last Friday from Nell's Cafe and she stated that they had planned for 75 entries and as of Friday they had over 200. Sounds to me like a very good turn out...

fished the bridgeport area Sat and Sun, between four boats of us, and two float tubes, total of 14 rods in the water,  we scored only three trout. all 15 inchers. i tried by nespelem as well, Friday and not even a tug.....unless they plan on releasing a ton of fish, im thinking its gonna be a little slow.

There will be more fish released for the derby. So hopefully it picks up and gets better. I was talking to fisherman at the nets pens on fri or sat, and he said that some fish escaped from the pens when one was being emptied.

Maybe that explains all the 13"ers this weekend.

Gonna be rough go for the most part Saturday for those of you fishing.  Good luck.
