New Ford F150
« on: March 09, 2012, 07:05:19 PM »
I am looking for a new full sized half ton.  I have heard that Ford will have something pretty soon call an E tech or something like that which will get 27 - 30 MPG gas.   Does anyone know of anything about the truck called the ecoboost...  Does anyone know anything about it?

I believe the mileage is around 23mpg and it will tow 11,000, not positive though

Ecoboost - twin turbo 3.5 l v-6 if I recall correctly. 2011's and 2012s.

I have a friend that just got one, and had an electrical problem already.  He has had it only a month or two.  He will be here next week to visit, so I will get the chance to check it out.

I started to see research and have found lots and lots of problems.  Not sure I want one.

I think it is usually not a good idea to buy the first year or two of a new engine or rig. Let them work out the bugs.

I know you didn't mention it, but will share anyway  :)

I have the 2011 F-150 SuperCab (cab type will influence gas some I believe) with the 5.0L V8.

Highway I get high teens, city I get low teens. Since I've owned it, I've put just under 5k miles on it and my overall mpg average (based on the computer) is like 14.3, with probably 60-70% of the miles in the city.

It came out in 2011.  So I am wondering when it will be safe to buy the truck with out all the problems.
