bow hunting tactics

I'm going to be going out on my first turkey hunt this spring.Permission has been given to hunt my uncles 160 acre property in republic,no time to scout that far away but have been told the property holds turkeys.Going out the first four or five days of the season. Really want to shoot one with the bow but not sure how to go about it.Would trying to spot and stalk turkeys be a mistake or should I get a blind,calls and decoys?

  If you don't buy a blind, you should be able to hide in some thick brush with the dekes out in front and do just fine. I can't believe it is almost that time of the year. Good luck!!

Agree about a blind and dekes, but not about sitting in thick brush ... they seem to know thick brush is where predators hide and most often shy away from it, it will interfer with you if you need to swing your outfit for a shot, and brush deflects shots way too often.   
 
By placing a jake or full strutter facing you and the hen away from you, the tom(s) should come in and be facing away from you putting you in there only blind spot ... this will allow you to draw, aim, and release when the time is right.  If you know the direction they are coming from, place the dekes slightly to the other side of your settup to draw them by your settup.  Aim for either the their head, vent, or at the little triangle of feathers above the leg (ie, where their vitals are and or you will break the leg or wing.

Good advise TD. I have also found that turkeys are not afraid of blinds. Set up where they will be and wait. Run and gun with a bow and blind is tough. You have 5 days...so learn their habits, roosts, feeding areas and set up and be ready.
