When I bought my first bow in preparation to try my hand at elk hunting this year, I thought I would hammer it at first, then desire to practice would fizzle out.  I was afraid I would be like so many and pick it up, practice a lot at first, then put it down for a bit. Only to dial in a bit a few weeks before the hunt.

Boy was I wrong, and I am very happy I was. I am addicted to this! If it wasn't for a job and responsibility, I'd shoot nonstop.  I am chomping at the bit to get out as much as I can, and wonder how I will make it to September.

You want a challenge?  Try getting a turkey with the new bow!  It's a blast!!  Good luck with your archery endeavors.

You could try bow fishing? Find a cheaper bow and that could help pass the time, that's what I do

Try to get to some local 3D shoots.  That's great hunting practice.

If work has a good open space with a safe backstop, bring a target to work and practice at lunch.

It is absolutely addicting. I've never met anyone who didn't get charged right off the bat. I got a little 10 year-old buddy who's taken to it from the first time he shot. Unfortunately, he's been shooting so much that he's fast growing out of his beginner's bow. This is going to get expensive fast and for you, too!

Definitely will be doing this.  My brother will be getting his bow soon, and we will be hitting it hard. Had to miss shooting Saturday due to being sick, and that made me more sick . My girlfriend told me, boy, you must really be sick!

Just bought a recurve. I won't see it for another month, but I can't wait to see how well I do without the training wheels.

My eleven yera old grand daughter wants to start archery.  My only problem is do I get her a beginer bow in case she doesn't want to continue, or just take her to a local archery range that gives lessons and furnishes the bow.  What to do, what to do.

Not sure if your question was rhetorical, but I'd take her to a range for some practice, simple lessons, etc.  Do not know where you live but most ranges have lessons too.  Skookum does.

my  But if your going to hunt with a bow you owe it to the animal your hunting and the other sportsman that enjoy bow hunting to shoot all year long. It pisses me off when people leave their bow on the rack untill just before hunting season. There is alot of people out there that do this and add to the argument that bow hunting should be stopped.
